Wow, I'm blogging a lot today. Anyway.

I saw I Am Sam a couple of nights ago and now OHMYGODI'MSOINLOVEWITHSEANPENN. The only thing I knew about him to this date being that he was once married to Madonna, and the only picture I've seen was him in black leather everything, gigantic black shades, Madonna in his right arm, with a motorcycle in the background. So I thought he was kind of like a Freddie Prinze Jr figure, the one who can't act for shite but is "photogenic".

Obviously I was wrong, because Sean Penn delineates the mentally retarded father figure with far too much love for his daughter to perfection. My heart ached as much as it did when I watched Failan, and that's saying a lot for his acting abilities. And sure, I Am Sam is a mass-targeted commercial film made by a shit-ass movie company with too much damn money and shitty movies on its resume, but it was much, much better than the clever indie films or documentaries I used to watch. Paternal love is about the most beautiful silent loveliness can get.

Yeah, make of that what you will. WARNING LOTS OF MUSHINESS THAT I WILL CRINGE TO READ LATER AHEAD I think the movie just meant a lot to me because I've been getting to know my father far, far more than I ever expected to in my entire life and it makes me cry whenever my father expresses in his tacit way how much he loves me.

The movie was lovely, though, and still lovelier is having love in your life instead of longing for it.
